Hotel description

Best Siroco ****

In 1971 the Hotel Siroco entered a Costa del Sol beautiful gardens competition and won. Since that date its wonderful mature tropical gardens have been its emblem and the very first thing that comes to mind when one hears mention of its name. In 2017 a significant renovation of the entire hotel modernized both its look and installations and it has been scoring highly on customer satisfaction ever since. Although not a seafront hotel, it is seaward facing and offers beautiful uninterrupted sea views from its gardens. Benalmádena's seafront promenade lies a 10 minute stroll from the hotel grounds, and its delightfully landscaped Paloma Park lies only 15 to 20 minutes away. All Personal Touch Holidays guests will be upgraded free of charge to superior rooms with views of the gardens, the sea or both.

Benalmádena

The Hotel Siroco sits at the very heart of Benalmádena, close to its main street and only a 10 minute stroll from the seafront promenade. A wide selection of bars and restaurants lies close at hand as do supermarkets and a bank. In addition to its attractive seafront promenade, Benalmádena also offers a beautifully landscaped public park. And, for a taste of typical timeless whitewashed Andalusia, a visit to the original hillside village of Benalmádena Pueblo is highly recommended, as is a cable car ride to the summit of the mountain on which Benalmádena Pueblo sits.

The Costa Del Sol

The Costa del Sol is defined first and foremost by its climate, boasting an average of 320 cloud-free days a year, warm and luminously bright, yet rarely overly hot, due to the pleasantly tempering effects of the Mediterranean and its mountain backdrop. It has also been blessed by history, being the area of Spain where the colourful artistic influence of the magnificent European Moorish empire of the middle ages is most consistently felt in terms of its architectural heritage and flamboyant flamenco culture. A laissez-faire friendliness and quasi-Arabian culture of warm hospitality have also contributed to the region’s appeal, as has its highly developed tourism infrastructure. It is also a wonderful destination for bowls tours, with no less than six bowls clubs located in a variety of settings within an hour’s drive of each other.

Optional excursion possibilities

Moorish Malaga: Moorish (but also More-ish) Malaga is a delightful city in which to explore, shop and relax. The second largest city in Andalusia, it was one of the best defended cities of Moorish Spain and its picturesque fortifications remain one of its most identifiable features. Our visit begins with a lift ascent to its hilltop Moorish Alcazar. An enchantingly landscaped palace-cum-fortress, featuring formal gardens and Moorish water features. Descending gently through the gardens to the old city below we next visit the interior of Malaga's highly impressive Renaissance Cathedral prior to enjoying ample time at leisure for food and further private explorations. Those with an interest in art for example may like to visit the Picasso Museum. Chic shopping is available in Larios Street.

El Chorro Gorge & The Ardales Lakes: Escape from the hustle and bustle of the Costa del Sol’s exciting coastline to the peace, tranquillity and natural beauty of Malaga province’s lake district. The spectacular gateway of 200 metre deep El Chorro Gorge, where the final scenes of vintage war movie, Von Ryan’s Express were shot, leads to a secret world of beautiful lakes and pine clad hillsides where a highly enjoyable Spanish country lunch nicely rounds off the day.

Millionaire's Marbella: The elegant resort of Marbella is renowned as the playground for the rich and famous. The wealth glitters most brightly along the Golden Mile, the flashiest marina on the Costa del Sol, where black-tinted cars slide along a quayside of luxury yachts. The beautiful Sierra Blanca Mountains provide a wonderful backdrop and create a lovely natural setting for this luxurious resort. The historic part of town, sits on a beautiful bay, sheltering lovely corners of a typically Andalusia flavour, with whitewashed houses and orange trees adorning the streets and squares.

Gibraltar: Travel to the Moors ancient stepping stone into Europe, later to become the most heavily fortified gun emplacement in the Mediterranean, a magnificent natural fortress guarding access by sea to southern Europe. Revel in its remarkable history, explore its fascinating caves, and meet its fabled Barbary apes.

Magical Mijas: Mijas, one of Andalusia's most photographed 'Pueblos Blancos' (white hill towns), offers a wonderful snapshot of life as it was in Andalusia in centuries past. Despite being one of the most visited places in the region it oozes Spanish authenticity, offering streetfulls of traditional architecture, a beautiful, begardened parish church and the remnants of a castle that once held invaders at bay. As a tourism magnet it has also attracted fine regional craftsmen and artists whose handiwork can be shopped for throughout the village. A preferred mode of transport within Spanish hillside communities for hundreds of years, Mijas today is one of very few Spanish villages that retains an active donkey taxi community. When your legs tire, choose from a vast array of attractive restaurants and bars offering splendid views over the surrounding countryside.

Ronda: Admire the ancient Moorish mountain Caliphate of Ronda, set either side of a hugely dramatic cleft known as the Tajo Gorge. Explore its delightful Medieval streets and drink in the atmosphere of its highly revered bullring, where the art of modern bullfighting is said to have been born.
