**MONARCH AIRLINES COLLAPSE - UPDATE 03.10.17 PM**
We have finally got to the end of a task that we sincerely wish we’d never had to embark upon. In only two days we have managed to successfully rebook nearly all the groups and individuals scheduled to travel with us on Monarch flights to other airlines. Some of our clients have kindly agreed to endure inconveniences of timetable and/or departure airport. We are extremely grateful to them for their flexibility. We are mortified however that we have not been able to find solutions for two of our larger groups due to the number of seats required (groups travelling to Verona & Mahon). People travelling as members of these groups will shortly be notified of this in writing. This has been an extremely trying time for everyone involved and we have been hugely appreciative of the patience exhibited by clients of ours that have been affected by this situation.
**MONARCH AIRLINES COLLAPSE - UPDATE 03.10.17**
This brief note is to inform everyone awaiting news regarding arrangements with us that involved Monarch Airlines flights that we are now extremely close to a final position regarding all of the affected holidays and will be publishing a final statement with regard to the action that we have been able to take to ameliorate the effects of the airlines’ collapse by the end of our working day today. I should like to sincerely thank everyone for their patience during this difficult 48 hours. It has really helped us not to have been swamped with communications as we have worked tirelessly towards the best possible outcomes for everyone.
**MONARCH AIRLINES COLLAPSE - UPDATE 02.10.17 PM**
As predicted, today has been highly challenging in terms of communications with the major airlines and despite dedicating ourselves solely to the task, we have still a way to go before we have final positions for all those booked with us to travel with the now sadly defunct Monarch Airlines. Judging by the progress that we have made today however I would imagine that by lunchtime tomorrow we will be clear with regard to all those that have booked to travel with us this calendar year (that is up until 31 December 2017). As soon as we find ourselves in that position we shall communicate with all the affected parties and reopen our phone lines.
**MONARCH AIRLINES COLLAPSE 02.10.17**
It is with deep regret that I have to confirm that Monarch Airlines ceased trading this morning at 04.00. I am extremely sorry for any distress that this may be generating. It is absolutely unprecedented that a UK airline of this size should go into administration, and as with any unprecedented event, the relevant authorities, in this case the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority, are reacting as best they can, and according to pre-established clearly thought through principles, but with no previous experience of a civil airline failure of this magnitude.
First of all, clarity. All Monarch businesses have ceased trading: the airline, the tour operator, and the accommodation company.
However, if you have booked a Monarch flight through Personal Touch Holidays your money is fully financially protected. That is, all your money. The entire cost of your travel package. Not just its flight component.
At this stage it is too early to tell whether we shall be able to operate your holiday with another airline, but we shall be looking into this option.
As you can imagine, this situation is a complex one but one one which the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, ABTA, and AITO are all fully focused on (ABTA and AITO are professional travel trade organisations of which we are a member).
If you are currently abroad with us and have flown out to your destination with Monarch, we have been assured by the Ministry of Transport that plans are already being implemented to bring you home on your scheduled date of return. Their advice is to await details of your new flight. This will be arranged via the Civil Aviation Authority, to whom we are sending your details.
Information regarding the management of this situation, whether you have already travelled and are currently at your destination, or are booked to travel later on in the year, will be updated on our website by the end of the day today and then regularly thereafter.
Due to the complexity of this situation we shall unfortunately be unavailable for telephone conversations for at least the duration of this morning as we endeavour to achieve the best possible outcomes for everyone.
We shall however be in contact with all affected passengers as soon as possible and posting regular updates on this situation on our website Home page www.personaltouchholidays.com. Our next update will appear before the end of the day.
The motivational force driving Personal Touch Holidays is the desire to provide a highly personalised service that is not generally available in the travel industry to groups and individuals seeking to pursue special interests overseas, and our satisfaction derives entirely from the fulfillment of that desire.
Benefitting from over twenty years of highly varied global travel industry experience we have successfully provided highly appreciated tailor-made group travel arrangements to country music fans, opera lovers, bowls groups, cricket fans, science enthusiasts, ballroom dancers, line dancers, sequence dancers, Tai Chi practitioners, bridge groups, and culturally curious retirement associations.
We very much enjoy a challenge and have delighted in immersing ourselves in the various special interest areas that we have been asked to provide for.
We highly value the group leaders and individuals that we work with and enjoy extremely positive relationships with many of them extending back well over a decade.
